Book Review: Running into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds

This book was just what I was looking for, it was super good. I love Aurora Rose Reynolds writing. She draws you into the story and makes you feel what the characters are feeling. This story was no different, really well written, I really enjoyed it and had a hard time putting it down. It wasn’t super angsty, it had a great story line and was like reading a story about people you know falling in love. It was an easy read that drew me in and I didn’t want it to end.

So you have this kinda crazy really awesome heroine, Fawn and the fantastic Alpha male hero Levi. She is a teacher and he is an NYPD homicide detective, they also end up being neighbors. Oh what a small world it is really. These two had the chemistry that makes me love reading as much as I do. They had that spark that gives you butterflies and makes you root for them even when you don’t have too. I loved them together!

“I like you, I like that you’re a little bit crazy and a whole lot blind, but until I know you understand exactly what’s happening between us, there is no way I’ll take you to my bed.” Blinking at him, I try to understand exactly what the hell he’s saying, but all I can focus on is the fact that he called me crazy and blind. “I’m not crazy or blind.”

“Gorgeous, you’re so fucking stuck in your own head, you can’t see straight.”

The way they meet is hilarious and makes the whole first chapter pretty funny. I liked all the characters, even the secondary characters, it’s definitely set up that the secondary characters could get their own books which is awesome cause I’d like to spend more time with these crazy girl’s. I feel like if they were real we would totally have drinks and enjoy great nights out together haha. Both their families are a bit crazy and it adds to the hilarious antics that happen throughout the story. This book had a little bit of everything laughter, swooning moments, family, love, and some seriously hot moments. A really well done read and totally worth the time to get to know everyone.

“Jesus!” I finally get a grip on the cord and pull, which tugs the earphones out of her ears, and her body stills. “Are you crazy?” I grit out, and her eyes move over me, then to the cord in my hand.

“Oh shit. Oops!” she pants, covering her face with her hands. Oops? Is this chick for real?

I thought with how Aurora’s writing is, the suspense would be a bit more but in this story it was a little down played compared to her usual. However it worked in this story, this was a true love story and the whole story line worked really well all together. If you’re looking for a fun, easy read that portrays a great Alpha and two wonderful character’s falling in love I suggest this book. I enjoyed every second of reading and can’t wait to get into the rest of the character’s stories that I really hope she writes. Do yourself a favor and read this story and just lose yourself in love for a little bit, I’m sure you’ll love it too!

Happy Reading!

“You stole my heart and my breath the day you ran into me,” I say simply, and she pulls back, wiping away the tears on her cheeks.

“Who would have thought running with your eyes closed would lead to love?” she asks, and I grin at her

Shout Out To The Sisterhood

Last night I was checking out my favorite author’s Facebook page and found something very interesting, something I think we all need to see and learn from. Now my favorite author is Kristen Ashley, she rocks and she writes so fricking well. If I had even half her talent I would be a happy lady. One thing about her writing is her heroines not only rock but they rock with the sisterhood. Before I go into more checkout this video from her website and I’ll explain my reasoning for this post afterwards.

First I want to point out that I am a hairstylist and I didn’t notice any grey hairs watching this video until she pointed them out and even if I had I NEVER would have thought she needed to color her hair. Who was this person that thought they needed to be so rude as to put that in the comment section. My gosh is that how much hate is out there, that we feel it’s our business to be so incredibly rude over 5 grey hairs how ridiculous. Kristen Ashley put this statement within her sharing this video:

My mother taught me a long time ago, if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. I feel with the advent of the Internet, and the anonymity behind it, this life lesson often falls by the wayside. It sometimes isn’t just trolls being trolls. It’s the dash off of an opinion without thinking it through first, and what it might mean to the person who is on the receiving end.

This video shares a powerful story of what (and in this instance, it’s most certainly a troll) lay behind the target of an anonymous remark.

What it means to the person on the receiving end.

I agree, how come we forgot these simple life lessons, how sad is this person that they need to post something like that just to make themselves feel better?

I read a lot of books and in those a lot of them say let’s build each other up, the sisterhood needs to unite together not fall apart. We as women are already our harshest critiques. We can find any fault in ourselves and make it into worse than it really is, we don’t need others pointing things out only for us to make them into a bigger issue. We are all wonderful as we are, we need to start building each other up. We need to start helping each other out and pointing out our wonderful qualities so that the sisterhood can grow stronger together.

Right now there are so many terrible things happening in this world (the shootings in Vegas, the rally in Charlottsville, hurricanes, and so much more) we don’t need to be adding more to the mix of all the crazy. So my suggestion to everyone is why don’t we start giving out random complements to the other members of our sisterhood, let’s start building each other up again. Even if it’s a nice shoes, your hair looks awesome, sweet top, just something that may make the other person feel a little good about their choices.

I try hard in my reviews for books I don’t enjoy or aren’t what I was looking for, to not be mean that isn’t why I started this blog. I mostly did it to put my feelings about books in my reviews and that’s for books I loved, liked or disliked. So I hope going forward I can find some redeeming qualities in the books I didn’t like along with the things that didn’t work for me. However the great thing about reading is that some people enjoy things that others don’t, I’ll just try to be nice about the ones I don’t like as much.

So as I said let’s start a shout out to the sisterhood, start giving other women some compliments maybe we’ll stop being so hard on ourselves.

I would also like to give a shout out to all the victims, survivors and families that are going through so much right now with all the horrible tragedies. Our thoughts are with everyone.

Happy Reading!

P.S I checked out the stay at home chef youtube channel (the lady in that video) and it looks like that woman can cook! I may check out a few of her recipes to try out cause they look delightful! If you’d like to check it out here is her website

Not living up to it’s potential!

How often does this happen to you? I know I get sucked in way to easily, all the time! All an author has to do is write a really good synopsis and I’m done for. Download that baby and start reading only to find out I’ve been duped again! Everyone has their book crack, the thing they love the most and will read no matter what and if the synopsis is good or even great, we one click and download just so we get our fix. But all too often the book isn’t as good as the promise of it was. It’s like a kick to the crotch every time I start reading something I thought was going to be my next fangirling moment only to realize the synopsis was better then the book.

Our book crack is always an auto buy for us. Some like bad boys, bullies, angst, comedy, mystery, suspense or a combination or whatever their choice of book crack may be. But whatever it is that is your book crack it makes it even better with the perfect synopsis to go with it. What a downer though when you finish the book and think what the hell did I just read…… yes the lead was a jerk face bully but the story was nowhere near what the promise of the synopsis was. It happens all the time to me, I read the synopsis and finally this is what I want to read just to be foiled again!

I’m not saying the book has to be terrible for me to think this. Sometimes I think yes that was good but not nearly as good as I was expecting. Or even there are times when I’m like ok that book was good but the promise of that jerk face bully (I’m using bully book crack as an example cause I have many book cracks….. really I’m just a book addict ha) wasn’t nearly what I thought I was in for. Which ends up being a complete downer. Lot’s of books are really good even but I was dooped by the synopsis and thought something other then what happened was going to happen.

Obviously author’s have to write a really good synopsis to draw us in so we’ll read their work, however I don’t like being mislead or dooped damn it! I just want to read the book that goes with that synopsis. I recently read a book that had this fantastic synopsis so of course I get the book only to read the book (and almost not finish) to realize that the only thing from the synopsis that was in the book were the names of the lead characters. Was I ever not impressed because I thought this was my next IT book, my next favorite author just to discover that the blurb I was so excited for wasn’t even the story I was reading. I got duped……. again! So tell me am I the only one or does everyone else have these moments? Also what is your book crack?
Happy Reading!

Holy Sh#!t/ Series Review

Well as you can see I haven’t blogged in ages, partly do to it being summer but also partly due to a bit of a hiatus from reading. I had a hard time finding something to read, I read a few books, not even worth mentioning cause they aren’t worth your time to even read a review about them. But I did read a few decent reads and I will review those within the next couple of days. I did however read a ridiculously fantastic series that I will review with this post. It is a must read. But for now I should apologize for my lack of blogging the last few weeks. Not that there are any excuses but we have been so busy with end of summer here and it was our son’s birthday at the end of August so it ended up being a busy time all around. Meanwhile with nothing good to read it kinda put me off even looking for a while. However there seems to be some epic reads just released and recommended by others that I am going to delve into as soon as I shape up my blog! I would also like to put a shout out to all those affected and to be affected by the hurricanes, I think you are in everyone’s thoughts and I hope everyone is safe and able to ride out the upcoming hurricanes safely! Also a shout out to all the forest fires out there in Canada and the States I again hope everyone is safe! What is with all this crazy terrible weather and natural disasters hopefully they work themselves out quickly! Good Luck Everyone!

Now on to my series review that I absolutely loved and wish I could forget it and reread it and feel the same intensity I did the first time around! Are you dying to know what this series is yet? Well let’s get to it shall we!

Now I can’t even tell you how I found this series but I can tell you I am so fucking glad I did! I have to do this as a series review because it is a total unbelievable mindfuck of a story and I loved every second of it! I feel like a gushing teenager with how much I loved this and what does that say about me that I loved a series about total mindfuckery like this? But I did and I am sure so many would love it just as well even with all the crazy going on. So can I tell you what it’s about……. absolutely NOT this book is best to go into blind and just ride it out, seriously it makes it so much better and intense. I didn’t even really know what I was getting into just thought hmmmm something a bit darker, maybe I’ll enjoy that and started reading and man am I glad I didn’t have any spoilers and you will too when you get to the end!

When you lose everything, you are grateful for the little things you find.

Now the first book I will say many times I was like “what is happening”, “my gosh this is crazy” and then the end explained it a little and I was then like “really that’s all she is giving us no more into this, she’s just giving us that, what is with the rushed ending”? Well let me tell you she gets into it in the second book and it is one hell of a fricking ride. You think the first book is a mindfuck well reading the second is bite your nails, edge of your seat, eye’s read faster I need to know NOW what is happening and going to happen.

People say the things they want themselves to believe. They are saying it aloud to convince themselves only. Their actions are who they are.

The Heroine in this series is off the charts BADASS, I kinda want to be her (maybe in my next life haha). The Hero is, well, kinda her minor (since she is so badass) but really good for her, he keeps her grounded. Sometimes I feel like he was holding her back a bit, however by the end of the third book it is explained why he is the way he is and it makes sense. I could go on about this story but I don’t actually want to give anything away. If you are in the mood for something dark and twisted and keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat read this series it was absolutely fantastic. Not once did I guess what would happen next or who the bad guy was, this writer Tara Brown did this story justice and wrote it so well I am truly surprised by the writing.

Sometimes the world is just a better place without those people. We don’t use warrants. We don’t worry about rules and laws. We just take away the bad people who are making the world a worse place.

Now the question is where do I go from here? Do I read something else in the dark genre or do I switch it up so I’m not disappointed if it isn’t as great as this series? So many choices! Then there are other books by Tara Brown, should I delve into one of them hoping for the same experience. HMMMM what to do, oh well I’ll find something, there are so many good sounding books all of a sudden! I am looking forward to a weekend of reading that’s for sure! Happy Reading!

But the life I made for myself, figuring out who I was, is the greatest gift I ever got and I gave it to myself.

Review: Wildfire by Ilona Andrews

Well I am finally reviewing this book after reading it almost 2 weeks ago. I think that maybe it’s taken me so long because I don’t want it to be over! I loved this series, it was everything, I didn’t want it to end. This husband and wife duo author are truly amazing. They also left a little something at the end that leaves it open for maybe a fourth book and I hope that’s in the works because I would love to read more. Especially now that Nevada and Rogan have their relationship locked in, there doesn’t have to be any drama in that department, they can just fight the monsters among them as a full team which would make them so much stronger. I was so into this book I didn’t even highlight anything cause I was so involved with reading so I’ll have to go back and find some great parts (which will be hard cause it was all so good).

When life hits you in the gut, it’s always a sucker punch. You never see it coming. One moment you’re walking along, worrying your little worries and making quiet plans, and the next you’re rolled into a ball, trying to hug yourself against the pain, frantic and reeling, your mind a jumble of scared thoughts.

This book starts off right where the last book ended. And it starts with a bang getting right into the heart of what this book will be focused on. Don’t get me wrong they also have to figure out who is behind this “take over the world” business they keep running into. But the big thing is Nevada making her family safe from all kinds of evil especially her crazy grandmother, that they just found out about.

“Victoria can do everything I do and much more, and she does it better. I’m just now figuring out the extent of my power. She’s been trained in the use of magic since she could hold chalk in her hand. She has power, money, and troops we don’t. She’ll do whatever she has to do to gain control of me and Catalina at the very least.”

There was so much to this book. It had drama, suspense, edge of your seat wondering what will happen next, action, fight scenes, and romance. It had something for everyone. I have loved this series from the beginning, I had a few issues here and there but nothing to stop me from liking the actual story line. But for me I think this was the strongest book. Nevada had her head on straight, she knew what she wanted and she was going for it. Especially in her relationship with Rogan, she wasn’t in her head wondering, she  knew that she was going to be with him and she was going to fight, even him, to make it happened. Meanwhile these two really were meant to be so there was no reason to fight it, they deserved a happily ever after.

“Before we begin, are there any affiliations and alliances to other Houses you wish to declare?”

“Yes. In the event of the formation of House Baylor, House Baylor intends to sign a Mutual Aid Pact with House Harrison.”

“So noted,” the Keeper stated.

“Also, I wish to announce my engagement to Connor Rogan of House Rogan.” Everyone sat up straighter and looked at Rogan. For the first time since I’d known him, shock showed on Rogan’s face. It was there only for a fleeting second, but I saw it and I would savor it for the rest of my life.

That may have been a bit spoilerish, but I mean, we all know they are going to end up together I just wanted to point out that Nevada was standing up for their relationship and also that this girl had balls. She take everything head on and tackles it, she is a force to be reckoned with! I love that we get all our questions answered in this book, especially what Nevada’s sisters powers are that was something I was hoping for and enjoyed seeing how it played out. One thing I don’t really understand is how all the “kids” in her family are Primes or extremely strong with their magic, how is this possible when apparently her father had no magic at all. I mean they need to be strong for the story line I’m just wondering how it all came about, not enough for me to dislike any part of the book just a little mental wondering of my own.

Obviously because this is the third book in the series I can’t tell you much about what happens because it would spoil so much, but I can tell you if you haven’t read the series start now it is so worth it. The writing alone is so well done this author duo is very good at story building. Do I recommend this series absolutely, do I hope there will be a fourth book you bet your ass I do, Did I want it to be over NO fucking way! Do yourself a favor and get into this world of magic and mayhem, so much fun! Happy Reading!

While Lenora’s people had sorted out the arrests of Sturm and his personnel, and first responders had pulled Grandma Frida from the rubble of the wall, Bern had broken the cypher on Olivia’s files. It detailed the entirety of what she knew about the conspiracy: names, details, crimes committed in the name of the cause. We knew everything except for the identity of Caesar. That remained a secret. – Let’s hope we get to find out in a fourth book…… soon haha!

Here is the series reading order:

Burn for Me: A Hidden Legacy Novel

White Hot: A Hidden Legacy Novel

Wildfire: A Hidden Legacy Novel

Review: Trixsters Anonymous by Ahren Sanders

This is a comedy romance and has some very funny moments in it. I enjoyed the funny moments, the friendship and the romance throughout this book. However, this is something I never say about a book, but it was maybe a bit too long. There were a few times when nothing was really happening and it just kinda dragged for a bit. There was also the whole “secret” about trixters that the heroine kept from the hero, which I understood keeping their identities a secret but not from the man you fell in love with especially since he’s a detective and could have given you help in some areas. That being said the story was good, funny, sexy and had some action too, so that made the few issues I had with it easier to take.

“What about the time you wrecked your father’s car because—”

“That was an honest mistake. I thought there was a snake in the car.” I shudder at the memory. It was one moment in my life I thought I was going to have a complete heart attack. How was I to know he’d recently bought a new garden hose? A black garden hose closely resembles a snake.

So the story starts with Emi helping her friend Maren get rid of her cheating fiancée and because they were so good at finding the dirt and getting the evidence to prove it they decide to start Trixsters Anonymous. A company on the internet to help others find dirt on the person they are worried about cheating or what not. Walker sees Emi at a bar and is drawn to her, then she shows up at the police station throwing all holy hell about her car being vandalized and Walker steps up to help her out. In starts the romance and the hilarious antics of Emi and Maren.

His lips hover over mine, and when he speaks, his warm breath coats my lips. “My house, your sweet ass, and no more sass.” He doesn’t kiss me before shoving away and slamming my door.

Walker has that alpha male thing going and it really works for him. I really enjoyed his character. Emi was a little different, parts I liked and others got on my nerves. Being in her head wasn’t as great as being in Walker’s. She was funny, a little outrageous, a little overdramatic but it worked for her unless she was being stubborn and thought she should be the first to get answers about thing others had only just discovered but that goes hand in hand with the overdramatic so maybe I’m being too hard on her character in some points. All in all it was a good read, the funny parts over road the parts that got on my nerves.

I will say that it’s nice to read a book especially a romantic comedy that any drama was mostly within the story as opposed to the relationship. Once these two decided to go for it they were in it and it wasn’t unnecessary angst between them with miscommunication and what not. That part was refreshing (I’m kinda tired of the break up at the end for no reason just for them to get back together). That wasn’t the case in this book and I liked it!

It also had some action between the Trixsters business and Walker being a detective and I do like some mystery and action in my books, which made me happier with the book. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in a good comedy romance with an alpha male! I think this could turn into a series so I’m going to keep an eye out for the next book because I would be interested in Maren’s story. Happy Reading!

“I told you once, it was my mission in life to make you happy, and I take that job very seriously.”

“You make me deliriously happy.”

“And it’s going to stay that way, forever.”
